Let me tell you something Billy Graham wrote a book and in this book he said “I have one great regret after looking through my life.” And by the way; what a wonderful life for a man of God for what Belly Graham has accomplished. But “This is my big regret instead of making disciples I made converts.” And you know better than 90% of the people that would come forward in a Billy Graham campaign wouldn’t even be in a church a year from that date. Probably almost 98% I don’t know the statistics but that would be my guess. Well, I would differ with Billy just a little bit; I would agree that he should have made disciples but I tell you that you must have your own experience with the living God. I had an experience a month ago and you see today is Shavuot, or Pentecost, in which in the New Covenant we commemorate the outpouring of God’s Spirit in Acts 2nd chapter when a wind came and people were filled with the Spirit of God to overflowing. Well I recently went to a church in the Brunswick, Georgia area that’s having an outpouring of God’s Spirit and I saw something that I haven’t seen in a long long time. As a matter of fact I take that back I don’t believe I even saw that 30 years ago when I became a Jewish Believer in the Messiah during the beginnings of the Charismatic movement. I saw a group of young children 14, 13, 15, 9 just young children enraptured in the Spirit of God laying on their backs, their hands up in the air worshiping God praying in unknown tongues. And I tell you something that those children will never, ever be able to get more than one inch away from the Lord. They wouldn’t want to. That’s the type of encounter every single of us has to have; instead today we rely on the cerebral to preach the gospel. We rely on the theatrics to get people to come into a church. Why? Because we don’t have the supernatural; since God doesn’t change what’s going on? I mean there are many churches that say today “We don’t want to talk about tongues because it’s too controversial and we don’t want controversy in our church.” I’m so glad that 2000 years ago at Shavuot at Pentecost our forefathers didn’t say “It’s too controversial, it’s too messy.” It was controversial; it was messy, when God invades humanity it gets controversial; when God invades humanity it gets messy. Is it out of order? Was it out of order that people said that they looked like they were drunk? They were so enraptured with God they were so in love with God. I wish you could have seen the faces of these young children. Then when I first became a believer we had the Catholic Charismatic Movement that was really the leader in the Charismatics. And we used to go to meetings in which we would sing in the Spirit and no person could orchestrate the beauty and the Majesty of God’s Holy Spirit conducting worship. It was the most magnificent thing that I’d ever heard. So we have the two spectrums, we have some churches that say “Well, it’s controversial so we don’t want to have tongues.” And what did Paul say? “Forbid not speaking in tongues,” what did Paul say “I speak in tongues more than any man.” What does the Bible say when you pray in unknown tongues you edify yourself, in other words you charge up your spirit. It’s like a muscle and most of us have big mental muscles; big physical muscles; but anemic spirit muscles. So how do we build up our spirit? It says “When you pray in tongues you edify yourself. The word edify in the Greek is similar to if you have a dead battery in your car and you charge it up and then it works. It’s charging yourself up, it’s praying mysteries in the Spirit with perfect faith. They may be mysteries to you because they’re unknown tongues but they’re not mysteries to the Spirit of God that is showing your spirit how to give you these words to speak them out loud. And you’re cutting the devil off before he can even start. No wonder he goes into churches and says that they are controversial. Then some Charismatic Churches even say “Well, we don’t want tongues unless there’s an interpretation because there might be an unsaved person that will think that you’ve crazy.” Well, the truth is if the whole congregation is speaking in unknown tongues and an unsaved person comes in and unsaved person comes in and that’s what happened in the Corinthian Church. Don’t think that you’re crazy. And Paul said “I’d rather have a few prophetic words with understanding than all of those tongues.” But he was talking about where it was a bedlam thing, however, if someone prays in tongues and worships God you don’t even need an interpretation it’s just so beautiful. And people have gone too far their throwing the baby out with the dirty bath water. Paul never in a million years said “I really don’t want anyone praying in tongues.” He just was qualifying in a church that it was out of control, it was carnal in effect. Well some people say “I’ll pray in unknown tongues I believe in it because it’s in the Bible when God causes me to do it.” Well, I’ll tell you something; it clearly shows you in the Book of Acts is “They spoke when the Spirit gave them utterance.” In other words, just as you speak with understanding you can speak in the Spirit; just as you sing with understanding you can sing in the Spirit. You cannot speak in English unless you cooperate with your mouth and tongue and vocal chords. I challenge you! I challenge you to try and speak in English; you cannot speak unknown tongues unless you do the same cooperation as when you’re speaking in English. And I believe that everyone that is born again that asks God in Jesus Name to be filled with His Spirit is filled with God’s Spirit. And I believe that when you’re filled with God’s Spirit you are given a private devotional prayer language.
Now you see that there are other types of tongues it’s in the plural when the gift of the Spirit is mentioned. And there are different rules for different types of tongues. There are tongues for the public assembly not all speak in public gift in the assembly. But then there are unknown tongues that everyone is given so that we can worship God in Spirit and in understanding; we can sing to God in the Spirit and we can sing to God in our understanding. Yes I know that our understanding can have the Spirit of God on it in English, of course. But he distinguishes between praying in the Spirit and praying with understanding. I believe that if I pray with you right now you’ll get your private devotional prayer language. You see I believe the moment you prayed you were given this gift; but God is waiting for you, you’re waiting for God; you’ve had some faulty teaching; what if it isn’t tongues; what if I’m speaking on behalf of the devil? Well that voice come directly from the devil; who’s name did you pray in? Did you believe that the blood of Yeshua washed away your sins? Do you believe you’re the righteousness of God? If a child asked their earthly father for bread he won’t give them a serpent. How much more will your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those that ask? What better time than Shavuot; Pentecost which is today for you to be Baptized it the Holy Spirit. Pull your car off to the side of the street; let’s pray now. First make sure your sins are forgiven, repeat this prayer. Dear God (right now say it with me). “Dear God I’m a sinner against You and You alone have I sinned and I’m so sorry; I believe that Jesus died for my sins and by His blood I’m forgiven; and now that I’m clean Jesus be my Lord, live inside of me and fill me to overflowing with Your Holy Spirit.” Now I believe that that Spirit of God; that same Spirit that rose Messiah Jesus from the dead is living within you and if you will begin to worship God; begin to speak out loud as quickly as you can. If you think you’ll not have the unknown tongues you’ll have a made up language. If you’ll just speak without thinking, I’ll begin to worship God worship, worship God with me as quickly as you can out-loud. I want you to do a mind by pass it’s not coming from your mind. The reason you don’t know what to say is it’s not in your mind it’s in your spirit, but you’ll not hear it until you speak it. (Sid speaking in His prayer language). And I pray in the Name of Yeshua that this will be the greatest Pentecost, the greatest Shavuot in your life. And if you already pray in unknown tongues pray more; we’re coming into an amazing time in the Spirit of God. We’ll pick up right… someone’s neck was just healed…We’ll pick up right here on tomorrow’s broadcast.
