Sid: This week I’ve been talking about Shavuot say it with me “Shavuot.” That’s the God festival the Biblical festival and the Jewish festival for Pentecost. On Pentecost we Jewish people read from the book of Ruth. Now next is Shavuot so get ready for an outpouring.
In the book of Ruth the Talmud, the Jewish commentaries by the rabbis and Tractate Sanhedrin 93b says “That the descendants of Ruth will be mighty people on earth and one of the descendants from Ruth will be King Messiah.
Well guess who descended from Ruth? Jesus! Oh what a wonderful festival for Jewish people to see Jesus, God biblical and Jewish Christianity.
Well names in the Bible are very important. In the book of Ruth we have Naomi, and Elimelech who got married and Naomi means pleasantness, and Elimelech means God is King. These 2 left Bethlehem of Judea, now Bethlehem means house of bread, and Judea means praise or worship. So literally this man, whose name means God is King, walked away from the house of bread which I believe represents the word of God. From Judah which is praise and worship to God.
Every time a Jew leaves Israel according to Torah they go down and it’s for judgment. So they left, they left with their 2 sons, their sons were cursed from the very beginning of their life, Mahlon and Chilion. Mahlon means sickly, isn’t this amazing? See God knows everything before it happens. Mahlon means sickly, and Chilion means wasting away.
So their 2 sons went out of Israel went into the curse left the word of God, left the praise of God, and they married. Now these 2 sons Sickly and Wasting Away married Orpa. Now Orpa means double-minded and Ruth, now Ruth means something worth seeing or another definition of her name is a friend.
But you see how the destination was already setup. As you know Mahlon (sickly) and Chilion (wasting away) lived up to their names and they died. And Elimelech who left the word of God and praise he died. The only one left was Naomi and her 2 daughter-in-laws Orpa and Ruth.
Now Orpa (double-minded) and Ruth (who’s a friend)… Orpa this double-minded person had an opportunity to go back to the word of God and worship Bethlehem of Judea. Instead this double-minded woman rejected what God was doing and went back to her false and pagan god.
Ruth on the other hand, a true friend, she said to her mother-in-law Entreat me not to leave you or to turn back from following you. For wherever you go I will go, wherever you lodge I will lodge. Your people (the Jewish people) shall be my people. Your God (the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob) shall be my God. Where you die I will die and there will I be buried. The Lord do more so to me and more also if anything but death parts you from me.
Now another man is on the scene his name is Boaz and Boaz means strength he represents the kin redeemer. You know what when Ruth who stuck with Naomi and went back to Bethlehem (the house of bread) of Judea (worship). It says in Ruth the 2nd chapter the 11th verse Boaz said to Ruth: It has been fully reported to me all that you have done for your mother-in-law.
Did you know that God has every hair on your head numbered? God knows every persecution you’ve been through. God knows every sickness you’ve been through. God knows every test and temptation you’ve been through and how you stood up for the name, the name above every name.
Boaz said, who represents God in this story of Ruth, It has been fully reported to me. And when the Jew, Boaz, married the Gentile, Ruth, it resulted in good seed. It resulted in a child by the name of Obed. Do you know what Obed means? Worshipper a worshipper of God.
What God is doing right now is restoring Jews and Gentiles, Ruths and Boazs so that He can bear much fruit. It’s called restoring the tabernacle of David. In Amos the 9th chapter the 11th and 12th verse: On that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David which is falling down. I will repair its damage, I will raise up its rooms and rebuild as in the days of old that they may possess the remnant of Eden. All the Gentiles are called by My name.
You see when we reach out to the Jewish people we will reach all the Gentiles that are called by God’s name. It’s called the “Law of Evangelism” that’s why the devils is trying so hard to stop it.
In the 13th verse it says: Behold the days are coming says the Lord when the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him who sows seed. The mountain shall drip with sweet wine and all the hills shall flow with it. When will this happen? When will this outpouring of God’s harvest be? Well next week is a good time because it’s Pentecost the festival of harvest.
The 14th verse says: I will bring back the captives of My people Israel. They shall build the waste cities and inhabitant them. They shall plant vineyards and drink wine from them.
That’s when, when you Israel a modern day Jewish nation. When you see Israel the Jewish people coming back to the land of Israel there will be the greatest harvest the world has ever seen.
Speaking of harvest you can’t even understand the words of Jesus if you don’t understand the God festivals because what comes up after Pentecost? The festivals of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot and John 4:30 was talking about this. You see Jesus said: Do not say there are still 4 months then comes the harvest. Meaning 4 months after Pentecost comes Sukkot the feast of tabernacles. Behold I say to you lift up your eyes look at the fields for they’re already white for harvest.
What about you? Look at the fields I’ve never seen such openness of people on the face of this earth. This is God’s moment in history for the outpouring of His Spirit. Are you going to be an Orpa, a double-minded person, or are you going to be a Ruth, pleasantness someone that’s good to look at by God? Well here’s the difference Ruth the Gentile hitched up with the Jew and said: Your people are my people. Your God is my God. They bore fruit, or are you going to be double-minded an Orpa. Are you a Ruth or are you an Orpa?
Jesus put it the same way in Matthew the 25th chapter He said that the last days would be a division of goat nations and sheep nations. The goats have a mind of their own they are double-minded, and the sheep follow the shepherd, the Ruths. What will be a single dividing line between the goats and the sheep nations? Jesus says: As you have done onto the least of these My brethren. Who’s He talking about? His brethren from the womb that’s what is says in the Greek in Matthew 25. As you have done onto the least of the physical Jews you have done unto Me. The dividing line of nations will be your attitude towards the Jew and Israel.
The stakes are high, the salvation of the world. Next week is Shavuot, Pentecost, revival that’s what it is harvest it’s revival. God wants you to be part of revival.
